After moving to Minnesota in 1991 Arthur hooked up with some of Prince's New Power Generation band members and started experimenting with the fusing his positive message folk-rock songwriting and twangy Telecaster guitar playing with the funk, R&B and Gospel sounds that were a mainstay of the Twin Cities music scene.

Lessons Of The Heart was Arthur's debut CD with original project Arthur Lee & The Next Step. Recorded in late 1993 at Prince's Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis MN. This CD features Arthur backed by a 9 piece band: Slide and pedal steel guitars, piano and B-3 Organ, bass, double drummers and 3 of the most amazing gospel/R&B singers.
